Personal Theory Improvement
Use the theory that you developed in week two. Improve it by using the information you have obtained in the intervening weeks. Use the conceptual – Theoretical – Empirical model (CTE) to link the operational definitions with the empirical indicators of the theoretical concepts and the conceptual model components. Post your revised theory and explain how you would measure the concepts and propositions in a research study.
" name="description">My theory is to provide holistic care that promotes a greater sense of well-being for my patients and me. The concept postulated in this theory is human caring. The intervening weeks have given insight into the significance of human caring in the modern healthcare landscape. Caring helps nurses potentiate a positive flow of energy that is mutually rewarding to them and their patients (Akbari & Nasiri, 2022). By embracing caring and adopting the Caritas processes postulated in Watson’s caring theory, nurses can improve the clinical outcomes of their patients and enhance their experiences and satisfaction with the care processes.
The conceptual-theoretical-empirical model provides a framework for theory development. The operational definition of a human theory provides measurements for the theory and remains an important component of the concept postulated in the theory. As per the theory, nurse caring details a set of nursing activities and engagements with patients that signify their recognition of patients as humans (Pentecost et al., 2019). The nursing caring concept suggested in the theory outlined has been related to promoting a greater sense of well-being for both the nurse and the patients. The empirical indicators for patient well-being include satisfaction with the care processes, improvement in the patient’s experiences as evaluated by patient feedback reports, and improvement in clinical outcomes, as evident in the reduction in hospital readmissions and hospital visitation.
The revised theory is that providing holistic care promotes patients’ satisfaction with the process, improves their clinical outcomes, and enhances their experiences. I would measure the concepts postulated in the theory by assessing nurses’ activities that constitute caring. These include patient handling and engagements. The propositions will be measured by assessing patient satisfaction and experiences as reported by the patients and the patient’s clinical outcomes.
